Getting Britain working

One of the worst aspects of the recession has been the growth in unemployment. We need to get our economy moving and people back to work. That means making Britain a better place to do business.

Cllr Andrew Jones, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate, said, “Britain has fallen down the global scale of economic competitiveness as business has become increasingly burdened by corporate taxes and red tape. Red tape alone is estimated to cost £77 billion.

“To get out of this recession we need to make Britain the easiest and best place in the world to set up and grow a business.”

An incoming Conservative government has pledged to cut red tape, cut the rate of corporation tax and help companies with the costs of hiring new staff by giving them tax breaks for new jobs.

Andrew, who has twenty five years of business experience, continued, “The Labour government has been making things harder for business. That cannot continue.

“Here in Harrogate and Knaresborough we are suffering from the recession like the rest of the country. We have great local firms, and they have told me they want red tape cut, so they can focus on making their businesses more successful.”
